The Hurun Research Institute today released, in association with the women in business platform Herose Club, the Hurun Richest Women in China 2022, a ranking of the Top 50 richest women. Wealth calculations are from 15 September. This is the 17th year of the list.

HURUN RESEARCH INSTITUTE RELEASES HURUN RICHEST WOMEN IN CHINA 2022, IN ASSOCIATION WITH WOMEN IN BUSINESS PLATFORM HEROSE CLUB
l For the first time, energy became the second largest source of wealth for women entrepreneurs, accounting for 10% of the list, up 1%. Real estate remained the main source of wealth, with 17% of the list, down 1%. Metals and mining, Non-ferrous metals, Consumer Products and F&B tied for third place, accounting for 7% of the list.
l Traditional sectors rose to 74% from 67% last year, while emerging sectors fell to 26% from 33% last year.
l The proportion of B2B companies rose, from 54% last year to 63% this year.
l 37% are consumer brands, such as real estate brands Country Garden and Longfor, soya sauce brand Haitian, soft drinks brand Wahaha, home appliance brand Midea, laundry detergent brand Blue Moon, hotpot restaurant brand Haidilao, etc.
l 10 are from the 1980s, 1 more than last year. Only 1 of these is self-made, the other 9 inherited wealth.
l The average age is 57, the same as last year.
l Beijing remains the top city for women entrepreneurs with 8, up 2; Shenzhen and Hong Kong tied for second with 5 each; Foshan ranked fourth with 3. A total of 17 live in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. 4 live outside China, including two in the US and 1 each in Singapore and the UK.
l In terms of birthplace, Guangdong once again ranked first, with 7, 2 more than last year; Suzhou ranked second with 5, 1 less than last year; Zhejiang ranked third with 4, 1 more than last year. Among the self-made female entrepreneurs, the most were from Guangdong and Jiangsu.
(12 December 2022, Shanghai) The Hurun Research Institute today released, in association with the women in business platform Herose Club, the Hurun Richest Women in China 2022, a ranking of the Top 50 richest women. Wealth calculations are from 15 September. This is the 17th year of the list.
The proportion of women entrepreneurs on the Hurun China Rich List rose to 26.7% from 26% last year, with 60% of them self-made.
The total wealth of the Top 50 richest Chinese women entrepreneurs is US$218bn, down 20% from last year. Compared with the total wealth of the Top 50 richest Chinese men, the men are three times richer. Only 15 of the women saw their wealth increase this year, of which 11 were new to the list. 46 saw their wealth decline or stay the same from last year, and 9 of them dropped off the list this year. The average age is 57, the same as last year. 57% are self-made and 43% inherited their wealth.

Elizabeth Yang Huiyan, 41, topped the Hurun Richest Women in China 2022 with US$10.7bn. Her family was among the Top 50 of the HENGCHANGSHAOFANG·Hurun China Rich List 2022. In the first half of this year, Country Garden's revenue was down 18% year-on-year.
Wu Yajun, 58, down 23% ranked 2nd with US$10.5bn. Her family was among the Top 50 of the HENGCHANGSHAOFANG·Hurun China Rich List 2022. In the first half of this year, Longfor recorded a 56% year-on-year increase in operating revenue.
Kwong Siu Hing, 93, ranked 3rd for the first time with US$9.9bn, up 2 places. Kwong was among the Top 100 of the HENGCHANGSHAOFANG·Hurun China Rich List 2022.
Chen Lihua, 81, ranked 4th with US$8.3bn, up 3 places from last year. Chen was among the Top 100 of the HENGCHANGSHAOFANG·Hurun China Rich List 2022.
Wang Laichun, 55, ranked 5th with US$8bn, up 5% and 4 places from last year. Wang was among the Top 100 of the HENGCHANGSHAOFANG·Hurun China Rich List 2022. Luxshare Precision’s products mainly serve the consumer electronics, communications and data center, automotive electronics and medical fields. Operating revenue in the first half of this year was up 70% from a year earlier.

Zhao Yan, 56, ranked 7th with US$7.1bn, down 12% and up 1 place from last year. Zhao’s family was among the Top 100 of the HENGCHANGSHAOFANG·Hurun China Rich List 2022. In the first three quarters of this year, Bloomage revenue grew 22% year-on-year.
Yan Xin, 39, increase 123% with US$7bn ranked 8th. Yan was among the Top 100 of the HENGCHANGSHAOFANG·Hurun China Rich List 2022. Yan’s business is the building of roads and bridges.
Jian Jun, 59, increase 5% ranked 9th with US$6.6bn, up 5 places from last year. Jian was among the Top 100 of the HENGCHANGSHAOFANG·Hurun China Rich List 2022. Imeik has developed and commercialized seven medical beauty products. In the first three quarters of this year, operating revenue grew 45% year on year.
Cheng Xue, 52, down 18% ranked 10th with US$6.3bn, down 1 places from last year. Cheng was among the Top 150 of the HENGCHANGSHAOFANG·Hurun China Rich List 2022. In the first three quarters of this year, the operating revenue of Haitian Food industry increased by 6% year-on-year. Net profit edged down 0.9% from a year earlier.
